Director of Development
Location: Toronto, None M3H 2t3
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Director of Development reports to the Head of School and is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the school’s fundraising efforts, including community engagement activities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and desire to contribute to an innovative learning community with high standards for student achievement and donor stewardship. The Director is a strong networker and relationship builder, both within the school community, and the broader community across Toronto.
The responsibilities of the position will include the following:
• Provide recommendations to elevate the fundraising plan and strategy for maximum impact, in collaboration with the Head of School and Chair of Fundraising/Fundraising Committee
• Lead the fundraising team in creating a case or cases for fundraising
• Run all aspects of annual campaigns, including the development and distribution of materials, co-ordination of volunteers, maintenance of pledge records and payments, etc.
• Identify and solicit mid-level and major donors. Ensure the alignment of funding sources with the values and needs of the organization
• Working with the Head of School and Chair of Fundraising to develop and impliment cultivation and stewardship programs for mid-level and major donors
• Support the Board of Directors in elevating its fund-raising skillset, and identification/closure of potential leads
• Works in collaboration with the Chevra Committee and Chairs to envision and coordinate community engagement initiatives and to develop relationships with the parent body.
• Co-ordinate and support volunteers in the production of a fundraising event or events.
• Develop and maintain a fundraising database
• Update website and other digitial media with fundraising materials
• Develop fundraising progress reports
Qualified candidate will be:
• A strong networker and relationship builder (existing connections would be a plus)
• Familiarity with the Canadian Jewish Community and specifically the Toronto Jewish Community
• Experience working on not for profit campaigns and major fundraising events
• A creative professional with a desire and ability to pivot strategies, as needed
• An excellent communicator – both written and orally
• A proactive self-starter
• Accustomed to working within a community organization with diverse stakeholders
• Able to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
• Comfortable working with digital marketing and fundraising platforms
• Comfortable working with digital data bases and spread sheets
• Proficiency in Hebrew an asset
